One-on-One
Art Therapy

Because everything is a lot right now.

Many of my clients come to art therapy exhausted from trying to think their way through something that thinking can't fix. They've “done the work” and still feel stuck. Art therapy offers a different way in.

The creative process accesses parts of us that conversation alone can't reach. Making something with your hands slows down the nervous system and gets you out of your head to open up new perspectives. I think of art making as a language that can express what words can't. Art gives form to feelings and helps you process experiences in a gentle but tangible way.

You don't need to be an artist. You only need a willingness to show-up and see what emerges.

What is Art Therapy?

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that integrates psychology, neuroscience, and the creative process. We use art making to help clients express, explore, and integrate experiences that may be hard to put into words.

Sessions blend art and conversation in a way that supports emotional regulation, insight, and resilience. Materials might include paint, collage, clay, or other mixed media depending on your comfort and goals. You do not need to have any artistic skill- the only requirements are curiosity and openness to trying something new!

Art therapists in Texas are doubly trained and doubly licensed. Everything a counselor can offer, art therapists can offer and also offer in an arts-based way. My work is grounded in clinical best practices and trauma-informed care, while my approach draws from broader humanistic, existential, and feminist theories.

People often find their way to art therapy when they’re feeling:

  • Burnt out or creatively blocked

  • Overwhelmed by stress or life transitions

  • Disconnected from their body or sense of purpose

  • Tired of managing symptoms rather than truly healing

Art therapy can bring you back into self-awareness and self-expression. It helps regulate the nervous system, externalize inner experiences, and reconnect with joy and meaning (even amidst challenges and change).

While everyone’s process is unique, art therapy can help you feel:

  • Calmer and more centered

  • More connected to your emotions and body

  • Clearer about what you want and need

  • Inspired in your creative process/practice

  • Better able to manage stress and prevent burnout

Treatment Specialties

  • Professional Burnout

The pace and culture of modern work is simply not sustainable for most creative professionals. But you don’t have to live with perfectionism, creative block, or burnout! Drawing from my own experience in a corporate career, I help clients use art therapy to reconnect with their intuition, quiet the inner critic, and rediscover creativity as a source of renewal rather than pressure.

  • Neurodivergence

Art therapy can be especially supportive for folks with ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, and other forms of neurodivergence. Creative processes offer nonverbal ways to communicate feelings, make meaning of experiences, and/or build skills in a neuroaffirming environment. The studio is a place where you are welcomed to unmask and express all parts of yourself.

  • Pain, Illness, Disability

Living with chronic health conditions can leave you feeling disconnected from your body- or even in conflict with it. Art therapy offers a way to process the trauma that often accompanies pain, illness, or disability, and cultivate compassion toward yourself. Because it’s a somatic process, art therapy engages your body in ways that can feel more accessible, expressive, and gentle.

  • Life Transitions

Major life changes can bring up uncertainty, confusion, or a loss of direction. Whether you’re navigating divorce, a career shift, becoming a parent, or grieving someone important, art therapy offers a way to process experiences that feel unclear or too big for words. Through image making and reflection, we can explore identity, make meaning, and and navigate change.

My approach

My approach weaves together art therapy, mindfulness, and honest conversation about the circumstances and systems that shape our lives. Together, this helps us better understand ourselves and what we need, so we can create real, practical change for ourselves and our communities.

Sessions are collaborative, relational, and paced to your needs. My work is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and neuroaffirming, so that you can show up fully and safely.

As both a clinician and artist, I value authenticity over perfection. You’ll be guided to explore materials, imagery, and reflection in ways that support integration and growth.

What to Expect

No two sessions look the same, and that's kind of the point.

We'll usually start with a check-in- how you're arriving, what's on your mind, what your priority is for the session. From there we move into making. That might mean painting, collage, working with clay, or yes, occasionally smashing something. Some clients like to work on the floor. Some bring in projects they're already in the middle of. Some need music. Some need quiet. I follow your lead.

At the end we slow down and reflect on what came up— in the work, and in you.

You don't have to know what you're looking for. You just have to show up.
