Art Therapy in Community

Working with others can be one of the most powerful and supportive ways to grow. In group art therapy, we use creativity as a bridge between inner experience and shared understanding, helping you connect more deeply with yourself and others who are walking a similar path. In-person groups are kept intentionally small (six or fewer participants) to foster safety, trust, and genuine connection.

Each group I facilitate combines art-making, reflection, and dialogue. No art experience is required- just a willingness to show up honestly. The creative process helps access insight that words alone may not reach, while being in community with others offers new perspectives, compassion, and a reminder that you’re not alone in your experiences.

As an art therapist, facilitator, and researcher, I bring a trauma-informed and relational approach to every group I lead. My background in both clinical art therapy and community-based practices helps me design groups that balance depth and safety- allowing for authentic expression, growth, and repair in real time.

“Sunday Scaries”

Sunday nights can be stressful. Your mind is racing with the tasks and pressure of the week ahead. I get it! That’s why I created this weekly online support group for people to connect, create something, and set a positive tone for the days to come. Each Sunday we will explore a different theme designed to relax your mind and center your spirit- no prior art experience needed. You’ll bring whatever materials you already have (markers, clay, paints— whatever inspires you!) and connect with a like-minded community who understands that Sunday night feeling. Together, we’ll transform Scaries into Sunday Self-Care so you can start your week feeling grounded, refreshed, and ready.

Navigating life with ADHD and/or autism (especially after a late diagnosis) can feel like learning a new language. I designed this in-person art therapy group to be a supportive, judgment-free space to help build practical skills, nurture self-care habits, and connect through art. Each week I will offer different prompts and creative exploration to help you tap into your strengths, build strategies for managing daily challenges, and develop new ways of working with your unique brain. Thanks to the therapeutic benefits of creative expression, you’ll leave feeling more equipped, understood, and connected to a community that embraces neurodivergence.

Major life changes- whether challenging, exciting, or unexpected- have a way of leaving you feeling adrift. This art therapy group was created to offer a supportive, grounding space for folks to process the stress of transitions like career change, moving, divorce, and/or significant shifts in identity. Through guided creative activities and reflective discussion, we’ll explore our different experiences, clarify what matters most, and find inner sources of resilience. Each session integrates the healing power of art making with the connection of an understanding community, to help you navigate change with greater confidence, clarity, and self-compassion.

  • Small Group Art Therapy

    In-person small groups offer a safe container for creativity, connection, and healing. With six participants or fewer, each session blends guided prompts, open artmaking, and reflection- supporting stress relief, life transitions, and personal growth. The intimate format fosters trust, belonging, and peer support, while the shared energy of creating and witnessing others promotes insight, accountability, and emotional expression.

  • Art-Based Support Groups

    Art-based support groups are non-clinical, virtual sessions designed to foster connection, peer support, and creative exploration. Each group blends art-making with gentle guidance and reflection, helping participants process experiences, share insights, and de-stress. Groups can focus on shared challenges, goals, or collective curiosity- whatever brings the community together. There’s no diagnosis or treatment plan; the emphasis is on connection and creativity, allowing participants to engage at their own pace and comfort.

  • Community Workshops

    Outside the therapy room, art has the power to build belonging and resilience in community spaces. I partner with nonprofits, arts organizations, and community groups to create programs that use art-making as a form of healing and dialogue. These experiences can be designed around specific populations or themes- from creative recovery, to neurodivergent support, to collective grief and renewal. My background in community facilitation and art activism allows me to hold spaces that are inclusive, trauma-informed, and rooted in care.

  • Corporate & Workplace Groups

    Creativity can be a powerful tool for team building and well-being, especially in high-pressure environments. I design art-based sessions for companies and organizations looking to reduce burnout, strengthen connection, and foster innovation through reflection and play. These sessions are tailored to your group’s goals- whether that’s stress relief, team cohesion, or developing a more creative culture. Participants leave feeling more grounded, connected, and engaged with their work and each other.

Why group therapy works

My clients will often hear me say “healing happens in relationship”. Group therapy allows us to witness and be witnessed. In doing so, we can help dissolve shame, build empathy, and strengthen belonging. Making art alongside others fosters connection without pressure to perform or explain. Often, participants discover insight not only through their own work, but in the creations of others who share their experiences..

Art groups also mirror the dynamics of everyday life: they offer opportunities to practice new communication patterns, boundary-setting, and self-expression within a supportive, facilitated container. In this way, group therapy becomes both a place to “practice” and a community for healing.
